Postdoctoral Fellow Asim Gazi Receives NIH K99 Award
The Department of Statistics is excited to share that Dr. Asim Gazi, a Postdoctoral Fellow in Professor Susan Murphy's lab, received a NIH National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) K99 Pathway to Independence Award for his project titled, "Uncertainty-Informed Decision Making for Just-in-Time Adaptive Interventions (JITAIs)." NIBIB's Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00) program is designed "to facilitate a timely transition of outstanding postdoctoral researchers in biomedical imaging and bioengineering from mentored, postdoctoral research positions to independent, tenure-track or equivalent faculty positions," according to the NIBIB website. Offered in two phases, the K99/R00 provides up to five years in grant support, including 1-2 years of postdoctoral research training and 1-3 years support for a research project contingent on obtaining an independent researcher position. Congratulations, Dr. Gazi!
