The Department of Statistics is pleased to share the 2023 NESS (New England Statistics Symposium) awardees include statistics PhD students Tianle Liu and Haoyu Ye. Tianle won a NESS Student Research Award on his paper co-authored with Professor Morgane Austern, "Wasserstein p Bounds in the Central Limit Theorem under Weak Dependence," and Haoyu received the NESS Student Poster Award for her poster, "Poisson Limit Theorems for Structured Random Objects." According to the NESS website, winners of the NESS Student Research Awards are selected for the "overall quality of their research." Tianle and Haoyu celebrated their awards with their project advisor, Morgane Austern, at the conference this June. Congratulations to our graduates for their excellent work!
