Mark Sellke Receives 2026 Bernoulli Society New Researcher Award

The Department of Statistics is thrilled to share that Assistant Professor Mark Sellke has been awarded the 2026 Bernoulli Society New Researcher Award in Probability Theory.  Prof. Sellke received this recognition for developing a theory of algorithmic thresholds for high-dimensional non-convex optimization and sampling, as well as for his breakthroughs on the effective mass of the Fröhlich polaron.

The Bernoulli Society New Researcher Award celebrates the outstanding work of early researchers in the fields of Mathematical Statistics and Probability. As part of the New Researcher Award, Professor Sellke will deliver an invited lecture at the 45th Conference on Stochastic Processes and their Applications in Ithaca, New York, June 15-19, 2026.  Congratulations, Prof. Sellke!
