Statistics Secondary Field Requirements
- Stat 110: Introduction to Probability
- Stat 111: Introduction to Statistical Inference
- Two additional courses in Statistics, with course numbers of 100 or above. CS 1810 can also be counted toward this requirement. Only one Statistics course numbered between 100 and 107 (inclusive) may be taken for credit. CS 1090A or APCOMP 209A can substitute for Stat 109A. CS 1090B or APCOMP 209B can substitute for Stat 109B. CS 1840 can substitute for Stat 184. MIT 6.390 or 6.790 can substitute for CS 1810. Biostat 281 or MCB 112 can substitute for Stat 114. Stat 210 can substitute for Stat 110. Stat 211 can substitute for Stat 111. Gov 2003 can substitute for Stat 286.
All courses counted for the secondary field in Statistics must be letter-graded. One, and only one, course can be double-counted between a concentration and a secondary field. Harvard Summer School courses and study abroad courses do not ordinarily count toward the requirements. A minimum grade of C- is required in all secondary field courses. Calculus (at the level of Math 1B), and for some courses multivariable calculus and/or linear algebra (at the levels of Math 21A and 21B, respectively), is a prerequisite for many Statistics courses numbered 110 and above.
