Statistics Secondary Field Requirements

  1. Stat 110: Introduction to Probability
  2. Stat 111: Introduction to Statistical Inference
  3. Two additional courses in Statistics, with course numbers of 100 or above. Only one Statistics course numbered between 100 and 107 (inclusive) may be taken for credit. CS 109A, CS 109B, CS 181 (or MIT 6.036/6.390), APCOMP 209A, APCOMP 209B, and MCB 112 can also be counted toward this requirement.

All courses counted for the secondary field in Statistics must be letter-graded. One, and only one, course can be double-counted between a concentration and a secondary field. Harvard Summer School courses and study abroad courses do not ordinarily count toward the requirements. A minimum grade of C- is required in all secondary field courses. Calculus (at the level of Math 1B), and for some courses multivariable calculus and/or linear algebra (at the levels of Math 21A and 21B, respectively), is a prerequisite for many Statistics courses numbered 110 and above.
