Herman Chernoff's Centennial Celebration

This research symposium will highlight Emeritus Professor Chernoff's teaching and research legacy by featuring panel discussions on how Professor Chernoff inspired researchers personally and professionally and technical presentations on research related to his work.  Professor Chernoff was a part of a cohort of new senior faculty hired in the Harvard Department of Statistics in the 1980s. His contributions to the field include work on large sample theory, experimental design, sequential analysis, methods of presenting statistical data in visual form, and statistical decision making.  During the symposium schedule, which includes breakfast and lunch, there will be plenty of opportunity to mingle with other statisticians from Harvard and other universities, as well as with members of the Boston Chapter of the American Statistical Association and from the New England Statistical Society.  For more details about the event, including how to register, please email: statistics@fas.harvard.edu.
