The Department of Statistics would like to congratulate
Senior Lecturer Kelly McConville on receiving this year's
Alpha-Iota Prize for Excellence in Teaching! This teaching prize is awarded annually to three FAS Faculty by the undergraduate members of Phi Beta Kappa at Harvard. The award celebrates Dr. McConville's accomplishments, including the revamping of Statistics 100 (now called "Introduction to Statistics and Data Science"), and notes that she "inspires her students to be truly passionate about statistical thinking, data science, and programming in R." Reflecting on Dr. McConville's award and her contributions to the Department, Professor of the Practice Joe Blitzstein, a 2009 Alpha-Iota recipient, said, "Kelly only joined the Department a year ago but her contributions to the teaching and advising in the department have been immediately impactful; it's great that she is already receiving this well-deserved recognition."
