The Statistics Department congratulates undergraduates Asteria Chilambo (a senior math concentrator) and Jing Shang (a visiting senior in economics from Fudan University) on receiving the best video presentation at the 2022 Electronic Undergraduate Statistics Research Conference for their summer research work supervised by Senior Lecturer in Statistics Dr. Kelly McConville.  Chilambo and Shang received the award for their video titled, "Comparison Study of the Generalized Multivariate Difference Estimator and the Generalized Regression Estimator," which compares the Generalized Regression Estimator [commonly used by The Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) Program of the U.S. Forest Service] with the Generalized Multivariate Difference Estimator for estimating forest attributes.  For support of their project, we would also like to acknowledge the USDA's FIA Program as well as Chilambo and Shang's collaborators Raymond Czaplewski and George Gaines of the U.S. Forest Service, who contributed to the project.  The Electronic Undergraduate Statistics Research Conference (eUSR) is a free, online conference designed for undergraduates in data science and statistics to present their work and learn about careers and graduate opportunities in statistics and data science.
