Natesh Pillai

Professor Pillai elected Fellow of IMS

The Institute of Mathematical Statistics has honored Professor Natesh Pillai, Professor of Statistics, by electing him to their Fellowship in their 2021 intake.

Dr. Pillai received the award for significant contributions to Markov Chain Monte Carlo Methods, mixing times of Markov chains and bridging the gap between applied probability, statistics, and computation.

 

Morgane Austern

New Statistics Faculty: Morgane Austern

The Faculty of the Department of Statistics is delighted to report that Dr. Morgane Austern will be joining us as an Assistant Professor of Statistics from 1 July 2021. She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Microsoft Research NE. Dr. Austern received her Ph.D. from Columbia University in 2019. Morgane’s work covers statistics, machine learning and probability theory.
