It is with a mix of pride and sadness that I relay that our colleague Stephen Blyth, Professor of Practice of Statistics, has been appointed Principal of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford University. The announcement is detailed at https://www.lmh.ox.ac.uk/news/professor-stephen-blyth-elected-next-principal
Stephen will take up his new position in the Autumn of 2022, after he completes his teaching at Harvard in the spring of 2022. Stephen's links to our Department are deep: first as a Statistics PhD student, then joining the Faculty in 2006 and becoming a Professor of the Practice of Statistics in 2012. His teaching is most celebrated for his brilliant Stat123 course on quantitative finance, which has influenced a generation of Harvard College students. During much of his time at Harvard he worked at the Harvard Management Company, which is in charge of investing Harvard’s endowment. He was appointed as CEO of the Harvard Management Company in 2014.
