Harvard’s Dean of Science, Professor Jeremy Bloxham, reported on 3rd May 2018 that “I am delighted to announce that Samuel Kou, Professor of Statistics, has agreed to become the next chair of Statistics, beginning July 1st, 2018. Samuel will bring to the chairmanship the thoughtful style and dedication for which he is so well regarded, and I have every confidence that the Department will continue to flourish under his leadership.”
Outgoing chair, Professor Neil Shephard, remarked: “Sam will be a wonderful chair. He leads by example, his brilliance in both research and teaching is very admirable. He has a deep love for this Department.
