Professor Cynthia Dwork joins the Statistics Department

The Statistics Department is delighted that Professor Cynthia Dwork will become an affiliate of our Department from 1 January 2020. To statisticians she is probably most well known for her co-invention of differential privacy. She is currently working differential privacy, statistical validity in adaptive data analysis, and fairness in classification.

Dwork is the Gordon McKay Professor of Computer Science at SEAS, Harvard, the Radcliffe Alumnae Professor, Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study and Professor by Affiliation at Harvard Law School. She is an elected fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Science (2008), the National Academy of Sciences (2014) and the American Philosophical Society (2016). Her research has won many prizes including the Godel Prize (2017) and the IEEE Hamming Medal (2020).
