#  Professor Lucas Janson Receives 2024 Noether Early Career Scholar Award

 We are thrilled to report that [Associate Professor Lucas Janson ](http://lucasjanson.fas.harvard.edu/)has received the 2024 American Statistical Association (ASA) [Noether Early Career Scholar Award ](https://www.amstat.org/your-career/awards/gottfried-e-noether-awards)due to his exceptional work on "nonparametric methodology for statistical inference on data that is high-dimensional or adaptively collected" (source: Award Citation). The methods he employs help scientists to use machine learning with statistical inference that ensures nonparametric validity by design. Prof. Janson will receive his award and give a talk at the Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) in August 2024 in Portland, Oregon.

 The Noether awards started in 1999 in honor of Gottfried Emanuel Noether, a leading scholar in nonparametric statistics and a talented teacher. The Noether Early Career Scholar Award is given annually to recognize the outstanding work of a young researcher and to encourage the work of future generations in nonparametric statistics research and teaching.
