 

#  Postdoctoral Fellow Asim Gazi Receives NIH K99 Award

The Department of Statistics is excited to share that [Dr. Asim Gazi](/people/asim-gazi), a Postdoctoral Fellow in Professor Susan Murphy's lab, received a [NIH National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) K99 Pathway to Independence Award](https://www.nibib.nih.gov/programs/division-interdisciplinary-training-didt/nih-pathway-independence-award-parent-k99r00) for his project titled, "Uncertainty-Informed Decision Making for Just-in-Time Adaptive Interventions (JITAIs)." NIBIB's Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00) program is designed "to facilitate a timely transition of outstanding postdoctoral researchers in biomedical imaging and bioengineering from mentored, postdoctoral research positions to independent, tenure-track or equivalent faculty positions," according to the NIBIB website. Offered in two phases, the K99/R00 provides up to five years in grant support, including 1-2 years of postdoctoral research training and 1-3 years support for a research project contingent on obtaining an independent researcher position.
