#  Dr. Jingming Wang Wins Best Poster Award at SNAB 2022

 The Statistics Department would like to share the exciting news that Postdoctoral Fellow [Jingming Wang](/people/jingming-wang-0) (in [Assistant Professor Tracy Ke's](/people/tracy-ke) research group) won the Best Poster Award for the [2022 Workshop on Statistical Network Analysis and Beyond](https://yangfeng.hosting.nyu.edu/snab2022/). Jingming’s poster presentation was based on her paper [Optimal Network Membership Estimation Under Severe Degree Heterogeneity](https://arxiv.org/abs/2204.12087). This paper theoretically characterizes the effect of degree heterogeneity on the error rate of estimating mixed memberships in a large social network and provides a rate-optimal spectral algorithm that works for arbitrary degree heterogeneity. Congratulations to Jingming!
