#  Xiaodong Yang Receives 2026 Jane Street Graduate Research Fellowship

The Statistics Department is delighted to announce that Xiaodong Yang, a 4th-year Statistics PhD Student advised by Associate Professor Subhabrata Sen and Professor Emeritus Jun Liu, was awarded a [2026 Jane Street Graduate Research Fellowship](https://www.janestreet.com/join-jane-street/programs-and-events/grf-profiles-2026/). This highly competitive [fellowship](https://www.janestreet.com/join-jane-street/programs-and-events/graduate-research-fellowship/) "supports exceptional doctoral students currently pursuing a PhD in electrical engineering and computer science, mathematics, physics, or statistics."

Yang's research interests lie in using applied probability tools to understand high-dimensional statistics problems. Notably, Yang is the only statistics scholar among this year's award recipients, highlighting the significance of this achievement.

In April, Yang and Sen attended Jane Street's award ceremony, where Yang was presented with an official award plaque.
