 

#  Pragya Sur Receives 2026 Noether Early Career Scholar Award

We are thrilled to report that [Assistant Professor Pragya Sur ](https://statistics.fas.harvard.edu/people/pragya-sur-0)has received the 2026 American Statistical Association (ASA) [Noether Early Career Scholar Award ](https://ww2.amstat.org/meetings/jsm/2026/featuredspeakers.cfm)due to her exceptional work. Prof. Sur will receive her award and give a talk, *Modern Machine Learning Through the Eyes of a Statistician*, at the Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) on August 5, 2026, in Boston.

The Noether awards started in 1999 in honor of Gottfried Emanuel Noether, a leading scholar in nonparametric statistics and a talented teacher. The Noether Early Career Scholar Award is given annually to recognize the outstanding work of a young researcher and to encourage the work of future generations in nonparametric statistics research and teaching.
