#  Professor Lucas Janson Receives 2025 COPSS Emerging Leader Award

The Department of Statistics is pleased to share that [Associate Professor Lucas Janson ](https://lucasjanson.fas.harvard.edu/)received a [2025 COPSS (Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies) Emerging Leader Award ](https://community.amstat.org/copss/awards/leadership-academy)for his "contributions to statistical methodology, particularly methods that leverage machine learning for statistical inference on data that is high-dimensional or adaptively collected, and for commitment to teaching, mentorship, and outreach." This award is given annually to a maximum of eight early career statistical scientists in recognition of their accomplishments and potential for shaping their field and demonstrating leadership.
