The Department of Statistics is pleased to announce that, in recognition of his "distinguished and continuing achievements in original research," [Professor Jun Liu ](https://sites.harvard.edu/junliu/)was [elected to the National Academy of Sciences](https://www.nasonline.org/news/2025-nas-election/). Founded in 1863, the National Academy of Sciences recognizes leaders in the sciences through their annual membership elections and provides science, engineering, and health policy advice to the federal government and other organizations.
