Title: Empowering Multi-institutional EHR for Real World Evidence: Opportunities and Challenges

Abstract: The growing availability of electronic health records (EHR) data opens up opportunities for biomedical research that improves patient care. Generalizable knowledge can be derived from multi-institutional EHR data. Deriving generalizable real world evidence from data across multiple healthcare systems, however, is highly challenging due to the inherent heterogeneity in the coding systems, patient population, and healthcare delivery patterns. In this talk, I will discuss opportunities for learning with multi-view EHR data and methods for addressing challenges arising from heterogeneity and data-sharing constraints.
