Donald B. Rubin, John L. Loeb Professor of Statistics, has been awarded the 2017 Waksberg Award for Statistical Contributions to Survey Methodology and the 2017 Rao Prize for Outstanding Research in Statistics. We are delighted that Lucas Janson will join the Harvard Statistics Department on 1st July 2017 as an Assistant Professor of Statistics. Lucas is currently a PhD student in statistics at Stanford. Lucas describes his work in the following way: “I am interested in both theoretical and applied statistical problems. We are delighted that Professor Susan Murphy will join the Harvard Statistics Department on 1st September 2017 as a Professor of Statistics and the Radcliffe Alumnae Professor at the Radcliffe Institute, Harvard University. Susan is currently H.E. Robbins Distinguished University Professor of Statistics & Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan. She has received many awards during her career, including being a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a MacArthur Fellow.
